The Tax Section is pleased to assist tax attorneys in locating meaningful pro bono opportunities. Below find descriptions of some of the programs we use to link members with pro bono work. Please also feel free to contact us if you have questions specific to your area of interest or geography and we will do our best to help you locate an opportunity that fits your interests and background
- Assist Disaster Survivors
We have gathered resources that can be used by tax attorneys find ways to help when a disaster strikes.
- Assist Elderly Taxpayers
The Section is concerned with ensuring the needs of special populations of taxpayers are met.
- Assist Service Members
Help our service members with your tax experience through training VITA volunteers on military bases, or signing up for the ABA Military Pro Bono Project.
- Calendar Call Programs
Calendar Call programs provide important advice and assistance to low-income, otherwise unrepresented taxpayers who have disputes with the IRS.
- Low Income Taxpayer Clinics
LITCs provide representation before the IRS or in court on audits, tax collection disputes, and other issues for free or for a small fee.
- Resources on the Expanded and Advance Child Tax Credit
The 2021 expansion of the Child Tax Credit along with the ability to access the 2021 credit from July to December rather than during the 2022 filing season, has provided a much needed financial boost to millions of American families. - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Provide free tax preparation for low-income individuals, families, and seniors through the IRS’ national program operated locally in your neighborhood.
